NOTE: The Good Counsel Admissions Office reviews each student's complete transcript when rendering a decision.

Applicants must complete a Good Counsel online admissions application and submit it to Good Counsel with a non-refundable $70.00 application fee by Friday, December 6, 2024.
Applicants must take the High School Placement Test in their parochial school. Students who miss the test must email the Catholic Schools Office at hspt@adw.org to arrange a make-up test.
The Archdiocese sends choice cards to 8th graders in parochial schools, and each applicants uses these cards to select three high schools. Please select Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in order to have the proper information sent to us.
The parochial school then sends the applicant's complete transcript to the selected three high schools. The transcript consists of report cards, all testing results, and recommendations from the principal and teachers. Archdiocesan students do not need to submit the transcript release and recommendation forms to their school.
Applicants not applying to Ryken Studies must schedule an interview for January 11, 2025. Information about sign-up procedures will be emailed to all applicants in December.

Parents must submit to the student's current school a transcript request. The transcript must include grades and testing information covering the student's prior two academic years.
Students must also provide recommendations from current academic year Math and English teachers. Recommendations will be requested directly within the application portal and be submitted directly to Good Counsel.
Qualified candidates will be brought in for a brief interview and placement tests to complete the process prior to final committee review.
Transfer students offered admissions will be invited to shadow prior to the enrollment deadline.
Transfer students are admitted on a space available basis.

Applicants must make arrangements with the Catholic Schools Office to sit for the High School Placement Test. For information about testing, visit the Archdiocese High School Placement Test (HSPT) web page.
At the end of the first quarter, parents must submit to the student's current school a transcript request. The transcript must include grades and testing information covering the student's prior two academic years.
Students must also provide recommendations from their current Math and English teachers. Recommendations must be requested in the Veracross portal and be submitted directly to Good Counsel by January 6, 2025. (If applying to STEM, an additional recommendation must be from a science teacher.) We recommend that families request these teacher recommendations no later than the end of first quarter.

Online Registration for Archdiocese High School Placement Test

To schedule placement testing, visit the Archdiocese High School Placement Test (HSPT) web page. (Only applicants attending non-Archdiocese schools need to register for the HSPT. Applicants currently attending Archdiocese schools do NOT need to register for the HSPT because Archdiocese middle schools provide the HSPT test to their students.)

Admissions Criteria

Applicants to Our Lady of Good Counsel High School are evaluated for admission based upon
the following criteria:

Submission of the Good Counsel Application Form with application fee
Appropriate ability as demonstrated on the Archdiocesan Entrance Exam (HSPT)
High level of academic achievement in the seventh grade and first quarter of the eighth grade
A demonstrated sincere desire to attend Good Counsel
Recommendations of principals and/or teachers
Satisfactory disciplinary and attendance history
In-person interview with a member of the Good Counsel community

Our Lady of Good Counsel High School reserves the right to revoke acceptance at any time for academic and/or disciplinary reasons.
