Camp Director:
Nick Alexander, GC Varsity Softball Coach
This camp is offered by the entire coaching staff of the OLGC Softball Program, both varsity and JV levels. The coaching staff led the Varsity team to the WCAC championship game in 2022 and had seven (7) players named to the WCAC All-League Teams, including two (2) to the First Team.
Coach Nick is the Head Coach for the Good Counsel softball program and leads the Varsity team. He is currently in his fourth season with the school, serving as an assistant and interim head coach for the varsity program in 2021, and then taking over the program in 2022, when he was honored to be named WCAC Coach of the Year. Coach Nick developed a love for fastpitch softball as an assistant coach (2015-19) for two Montgomery Village (Md.) Sports Association Storm softball teams. The clubs, where both of his daughters competed, played locally and along the East Coast, winning several tournaments. In 2019-20, he coached at the 18U A/B level for the Clarksburg (Md.) Crush. His younger daughter, Aniko, is a middle infielder at Wellesley (Mass.) College where she is a senior. She was a four-year varsity starter at Quince Orchard High School, and in 2018 was named honorable mention All-Met. His older daughter, Julia, was a three-year varsity starter for the QO Cougars.
The following assistant coaches will also lead instruction:
Amy Bresson, Assistant Varsity Softball Coach
Coach Bresson is in her third season with the Good Counsel softball program. She was a 4-year varsity starter at Reservoir High School, earning All-County honors as a catcher, infielder, and outfielder. She went on to play at Lynchburg College, where she remained after graduation as a graduate assistant coach. Coach Bresson has experience coaching at all levels from 8u to the collegiate level.
Sophia Sommerkamp, First Assistant Softball Coach
Coach Sommerkamp is currently in her third season as the First Assistant coach for the Good Counsel softball program. She was a 4-year varsity player and 3-year varsity starter at Reservoir High School in Howard County, Maryland. She played all over the infield, primarily third base, and is the infield specialist for the varsity team. In Coach Sommerkamp’s first year with the program, four varsity infielders were named to the WCAC All-League Teams.
