Women seek counseling for many reasons. In the end, most of the reasons surround a relationship—a difficult marriage, a rebellious child, a best friend gone, a loved one deceased, parents who still play games…and the list could go on.
In addition to relationship hurts, women also seek counseling for addictions, deep-rooted anger, or the constant burden of comparing themselves to others. Often women come when their hope for fulfillment in life has fizzled down to a sigh. Some feel that the pace and ache of life has sucked all the energy from God’s calling.
In counseling, we focus on finding the woman’s true identity, not an identity her culture or family has thrown upon her. 1 John 3:1 says, “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!” We address hurts from the past, fear in the present, and dreams for the future.
