Children’s Counseling

Good Counsel - Children's Counseling

Children don’t mentally process things the way adults do. Instead, kids…play. Maybe that’s a lesson for all of us, since Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” Sometimes, however, life takes a serious turn, and problems arise. Often parents seek counseling for their children who are experiencing difficulties with:

  • parents in separation or divorce.
  • school or relationships at school.
  • abuse by an adult or another child.
  • anxiety or depression.

Through the avenue of play, many of these complex situations and feelings can be sorted out. I believe the Holy Spirit is at work mightily in children. Although their situation or the pain that brought them to counseling can be severe, there is always hope for healing and a stable and happy future. Some say that kids are resilient; they bounce back easily. I would say instead that children have a large capacity for forgiveness and giving people or circumstances a second chance.
